Frequently Asked Questions
What is CMMI?
CMMI®, Capability Maturity Model Integration®, successor of the CMM® (Capability Maturity Model), is a quality criteria catalogue used to evaluate the efficiency of processes in a manufacturing organization. CMMI was developed by SEI, Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh/USA, in co-operation with a number of leading international companies. CMMI is a comprehensive model, which considers all management processes, technical development activities and quality assurance measures. CMMI has become an internationally recognized, leading quality standard used in organisations of all industries, e.g., in the software outsourcing industry, automobile industry, telecommunication industry, etc. More details on CMMI can be found on the official CMMI page.
Do you support both proprietary and open source software?
We support all common license variants. We use commercial and open source components in our projects as required. The components are selected during the system analysis in alignment with the customer.
We would like to use an open source solution, but the vendor requires surprisingly high prices for its support. Can you take over?
Particularly in the open source market, we are always able to support any solution as required. It is not necessary to use the more expensive services of the open source vendors who must recoup their development costs. We are more efficient and cost-effective than most open source software vendors.
Would you recommend to us an open source solution for a certain problem?
That is an integral part of our offer. However we are not fixed on open source. We recommend the solution that brings most use to our customer. We are absolutely neutral.
I’m looking for a supplier who delivers a complex software solution for me. May I have a quick quote?
In our industry, some suppliers frequently name ad-hoc, low prices based on “gut feeling,“ after just one brief meeting with the customer. In the later project phase it suddenly becomes obvious that important functions are not covered by the original quote. In the meantime, money and time have been spent, and the customer is usually forced to pay for those functions disproportionately high prices. This ultimately results in surprisingly high overall-costs of the delivery. A solution developed on the basis of solid analysis would usually be cheaper.
We are always interested in a long-term, productive relationship with our customers. Therefore we develop the requirements systematically together with our customers until they become stable. On this basis a solid estimation for the further process of the project is delivered.
